Individual Coaching Grant
INDIVIDUAL COACHING GRANTS GUIDANCE NOTES
Live Active Leisure and The Gannochy Trust are committed to supporting the development of local sports coaches, not only to grow their own individual skills and knowledge but to also enhance the quality and experience for local participants and to contribute towards the sustainability of local sports clubs and programmes across Perth & Kinross.
Our ‘Individual Coaching Grants’ support these commitments by removing some of the financial barriers that may prevent coaches being able to achieve coaching qualifications.
Is an Individual Coaching Grant for you? Read on to find out more.
Who is eligible to apply?
- All coaches are eligible to apply for this grant, from beginners to those working in high performance environments.
- Coaches must be committed to using their qualification at an appropriate level within Perth and Kinross and be able to state where this coaching will take place, to what level, and who it will be delivered to (e.g. a specific club/team/school/individual)
What is the funding for?
-This funding stream is to support local coaches by effectively reducing the costs of National Governing Body (or equivalent) coaching qualifications.
- National Governing Body (or equivalent) continuing professional development courses may be considered if applicants can strongly evidence the way in which the learning will be used within a coaching environment within Perth and Kinross.
What this funding will not cover:*
- First Aid Courses or RLSS Life Saving Courses
- Child Wellbeing and Protection Courses
- Other similar courses that are focused on health and safety / wellbeing and protection rather than coach development.
*Please note that we have other support available for the above courses through our Perth and Kinross Accredited Club Excellence Scheme (PACES). For more information on PACES click here.
How much funding could I receive?
The following funding is available (after having deducted the subsidy received from your National Governing Body)
- 75% of course costs for coaches who are in full time education
- 75% of course costs for coaches entitled to any of our concessions
- 50% of course costs for coaches not entitled to concessions.
The maximum award per grant is £500
Live Active Leisure will only award a maximum number of 2 grants within a 12-month rolling period to any individual.
Process
1. All coaches should contact their relevant National Governing Body to establish whether a coaching subsidy is available before applying for a Live Active Leisure, Individual Coaching Grant. Visit this link for National Governing Body contact information.
Coaches will need to state on the application form if they are not eligible for a coaching subsidy from their National Governing Body and the reason why.
2. Coaches should then complete the application form for a Live Active Leisure Individual Coaching Grant.
3. Applications will be reviewed every 4-weeks. Applications must be made in advance of the course starting. Funding will not be awarded retrospectively.
4. Applicants will be notified within 4 weeks of application with the outcome of their award.
5. If successful, funding will be awarded to the individual directly via BACS transfer, on receipt of proof of payment.
6. Grant recipients will be asked to complete a feedback survey 3 months after completing their course to provide evidence of impact. Failure to do so will jeopardise future grant applications.
