Recruitment – Getting the right people for the job

Policy - How we do things
Live Active is committed to implementing fair and effective policy and practice for recruiting and retaining people with criminal convictions based on full assessment of the risks involved.
Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from working with Live Active Leisure. This will depend on the nature of the position, together with the circumstances and background of your offences. All positions are either subject to membership of the PVG Scheme or a satisfactory basic Disclosure Scotland check. The membership requirement or check depends upon the post applied for and the essential criteria on the Person Specification applicable to the post will advise you of this.

The Healthy Working Lives initiative supports employers and employees to develop health promotion and safety themes in the workplace in a practical, logical way, that's beneficial to all.
Achieving a Healthy Working Lives Award celebrates success and helps organisations reap the benefits of providing a healthier and safer workplace.
Live Active Leisure in maintaining its Bronze Award for Our People, has continued to demonstrate good management around sickness absence and health and safety in the workplace such as preventative management towards potential accidents/incidents in the workplace, and a smoking policy.
In addition in 2013/2014 Live Active has promoted general health initiatives which have included Bowel Cancer Awareness, Mental Health Issues, 5 x 50, Walk to Work Week, Fit in 14, Cycle Scheme, & a Healthy Working Lives Company Challenge Trophy.

Our Company Counsellor can provide counselling to help Our People balance work, family and personal life.
Carer & Compassionate Leave
We understand that Our People have dependants and there may be occasions when they require assistance. Live Active offers up to 3 days paid time off to deal with the emergency.
Work Positive
Live Active Leisure uses the Work Positive survey by Healthy Working Lives. The survey is designed to support the management of health and safety in the workplace and gets feedback from Our People on their health needs and risks to safety and health at work.
Occupational Health
Our People have access to professional care and advice that can minimise the impact of ill-health and facilitate an early but safe return to work.
