News from the Young People's Sports Panel 2023
April 2023: YPSP goal setting
The panel met in April for their first in-person meeting, where they had a chance to get to know each other and discuss key focus areas for the year ahead. The panel's overarching goal is to help people access sport - they aim to achieve this by focusing on the following:
- Women and girls opportunities and inclusion in sport
- LGBTIQ+ opportunities and inclusion in sport
- Mental health and the importance of sport and physical activity
- Helping reduce cost barriers to participating in sport (eg Kit for All)
The YPSP will be creating social media platforms and will be reaching out to clubs and partners over the next couple of months using the hastag #PKYPSP.
March 2023: our first panel has been recruited!
We are delighted to have 12 young people from P&K form the first YPSP. We held a recruitment day in February and over 30 young people attended. We were blown away by the standard and it was not an easy decision to narrow it down to 12 but we are delighted to be able to represent youth voice through our panel.
The panel have since met online, designed their own logo and set out a panel ethos. The panel have their first in-person meeting in April where they will decide their goals and the real work will then begin! We can't wait to see what impact this group of superb young people will have in helping us plan, develop and deliver sport across P&K.
