Gymnastics Pathways
Award Scheme
As part of our term-time Gymnastics Programme, we offer our participants the opportunity to take part in a Gymnastics Award Proficiency Scheme allowing the gymnasts to show the progression they have achieved over the year. Launched in January 2023 our new scheme has been designed to utilise the present-day gymnastics environment, equipment and to reflect the age range and ability of our gymnasts.
Our Awards consist of 3 categories: Pre-School, Recreational and Advanced.
Our Pre-school programme allows children to progress through four fun levels of skills. Stamps are awarded as each skill is achieved with certificates available when all the skills in each level have been achieved. Levels one and two are aimed at the 18 months to 3 years participants with Levels 3 and 4 aimed at the 3-to-5-year age group. CLICK HERE
The recreational awards have eight levels to achieve with gymnasts starting on Level 1 and progressing to Level 8. Once gymnasts have achieved Level 8, they will then move on to the Advanced awards which have three levels - Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Each Level of award consists of 10 - 14 different skills ranging from core gymnastics proficiencies to elements involving strength, co-ordination, balance, and flexibility all of which are designed with the overall progress of gymnasts in mind. Each level has key skills for each piece of apparatus, ensuring children are receiving a well-rounded class. Children will be able to demonstrate their progressions on bars, beam, floor and vault as well as pommel, p-bars and rings.
The scheme is supported with recognition in the form of certificates and medals which are awarded to gymnasts at our presentation evening on the last week of the term where parents are invited into the gym to watch the presentation, cheer on the gymnasts, and take photos.
