World & Olympic Champion Joins Live Active Leisure Board
Live Active Leisure, Perth & Kinross’s sport and leisure trust, are delighted to announce that Olympian Eve Muirhead OBE has joined their volunteer Board of Directors.
Muirhead is nine times Scottish, three times European, and World Champion curler as well as holding both bronze and gold Olympic medals won in Beijing in 2022 as skip of Team GB and winning the only gold medal for the national team in the Games.
As one of Scotland’s most successful curlers, Eve began her illustrious career on the ice at Dewars Centre, which is run by Live Active Leisure, and Eve is delighted to return in this capacity.
“I have long been a believer in ensuring that all of our community and particularly our young people have quality affordable access to sport and fitness. After the support I have received from Dewars Centre and Live Active Leisure in my career, I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Live Active board to support their aspirations to help everyone live active lives in Perth & Kinross. I am particularly pleased to return to my sporting roots in Perth and look forward to inspiring more young athletes to meet their goals.”
David MacLehose, Chair of the Board of Live Active told us:
“We are so pleased that Eve could join us on the Board of Directors at Live Active Leisure. As a world-renowned athlete and ambassador for the benefits of taking part in sport from a young age, Eve is well-placed to work with us and the whole Live Active team to support the people of Perth & Kinross in their aspirations to live active lives. Her knowledge from curling across the globe will be invaluable in assisting LAL refining the design details of PH2O to attract curlers to international events in Perth. We also appreciate how busy Eve and all our Directors are with their many work and personal commitments, so it is wonderful that she is able to make this commitment to her local leisure trust.”
Eve joined the Board of Directors in November 2022 and will work alongside the other Directors to provide governance, guidance and support to the Live Active Leisure team.
