Nominate Your Local Sporting Hero
The nomination stage for the 33rd annual Perth and Kinross Sports Awards is now open and organisers at Live Active Leisure (LAL) are inviting residents from across Perth and Kinross to put forward their choices for one of eleven prestigious sporting awards by 22nd January 2023.
In partnership with Perth & Kinross Sports Council, LAL will honour the clubs and individuals that have played an active role in the sporting life of Perth and Kinross with entries judged on merits from 1st January to 31st December 2022.
Phil Coleman, Community Sport and Partnership Manager at Live Active Leisure commented,
'It's fantastic to be able to open applications for our annual sports awards that recognise the talent, effort and achievements of our local sports people and organisations.
"From medals on the international stage to the hours of dedication shown by our army of community volunteers, we are keen to celebrate the success and commitment of those engaged in sport. We are asking members of the public to look at the categories available and nominate their local club, volunteer, coach or athlete - showing their appreciation for the contribution they make to sport at a local level."
Categories for this year's awards are:
- Sports Personality of the Year
- Young Sports Personality of the Year
- Veteran Sports Personality of the Year
- Disability Sports Personality of the Year
- Volunteer of the Year
- Youth Leadership Award
- Club of the Year
- School Team of the Year
- Sport for Change Award
- Chuck Hay Team Performance Award
- George Mortimer Service to Sport Award
Nominees must have been a resident in Perth and Kinross for at least 6 months during 2022 and/or been affiliated to a club in Perth and Kinross in 2022. The sport must be officially recognised by sportscotland and nominations will be judged on the entry form alone with the exception of the main Sports Personality of the Year Award.
Previous Sports Personality of the Year winners include Laura Muir (athletics), Bradley Neil (golf), Stephen Milne (swimming), Eilidh Child (athletics), Fiona Pennie (canoeing), Wallace Booth and Gavin Dear (golf) and Eve Muirhead (curling).
The Perth and Kinross Sports Awards will take place on Friday 3rd March at Perth Museum and Art Gallery for a second year.

- Entries will be judged on achievements from 1 Jan -31 Dec 2022.
- Nominators must use the specific Award Criteria as a guide to writing the nomination and include any supplementary information to enhance the nomination.
- The panel can only make a judgement on the information provided on the form, so please ensure you clearly state why your nominee deserves the award (the Sports Personality of the Year Award is an exception to this).
- The sport must be officially recognised by sportscotland.
- Nominees must have been a resident in Perth and Kinross for at least 6 months during 2022 and/or been affiliated to a club in Perth and Kinross in 2022.
- The Awards Team reserves the right to seek verification on the information included in the nomination form.
- Nominations via online form to be received by midnight on Sunday 22nd January 2023.
