Join Our Gymnastics Coaching Team

Our gymnastics programme is always growing, and we’re expanding our coaching team to match. We’re looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals to help deliver high-quality, engaging gymnastics sessions.

Relief Gymnastics Coaching

We offer both contracted and relief gymnastics coaching roles. Relief coaches work alongside our experienced coaching team, supporting classes and gaining valuable hands-on experience.

New coaches receive mentoring from our senior staff, helping them build confidence, improve their coaching techniques, and progress through gymnastics qualifications. We encourage all our coaches to attend workshops and training courses to enhance their skills.

Volunteering: The First Step into Coaching

We believe in nurturing young talent, which is why we welcome volunteers aged 14 and 15 into our programme. Volunteers typically support classes for up to two hours per week, working alongside our Level 1 and Level 2 coaches.

Volunteers develop essential coaching skills, learn best practices, and gain experience working with children in a supportive environment. Once they turn 16, volunteers may be invited to join our relief coaching team, continuing their journey into a coaching career.

We also support volunteers through the Saltire Award and Youth Achievement Award schemes, helping them earn nationally recognised certificates. Many of our volunteers use their hours towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and we’re proud to guide and support them throughout the process.

Coaching and Education Combined

We partner with Perth College UHI through the Community Sport Student Link Framework. This partnership allows students to complete voluntary coaching as part of their coursework.

Many of these students progress from volunteering into paid coaching roles with us once their course ends. It’s an excellent way to combine education with practical coaching experience, all while making a real difference to young gymnasts.

School Sport Coaching Project: An Introductory Pathway for Pupils

The School Sport Coaching Project, supported by the Gannochy Trust, provides an amazing opportunity for local school pupils. The project offers introductory courses in sports coaching, leadership, and officiating.

Pupils develop valuable communication, leadership, and coaching skills, all while earning recognised qualifications. After the course, pupils must complete 20 hours of volunteering in a school, local authority, or community club setting.

Our Learn to Coach Gymnastics Course runs annually, and many of our current coaches and volunteers began their journey with this programme. It’s an incredible starting point for young people who dream of becoming gymnastics coaches.
