EGYM Fitness Hub FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions - EGYM Fitness Hub
EGYM Fitness Hub
The Fitness Hub is a simple, smart way to understand your fitness, track your progress, and improve your BioAge. Using an integrated 3D camera and smart scales to calculate body composition (your body’s proportions of fat, muscle, bone, and water), combined with guided movements tests like a squat or stretch.
Your overall BioAge is based on four key areas: strength, flexibility, metabolism, and cardio fitness. Together, these give a rounded view of how your body is performing compared with your actual age.
No – the EGYM Fitness Hub is not available for users under the age of 16.
EGYM’s official terms of use require all independent users to be at least 16 years old. This ensures the equipment and digital platform are used safely and that personal training data is accurate and appropriate for the user.
Members aged 16–18 can use the Fitness Hub, but they must have appropriate parental or guardian consent in place before setting up an account.
These age restrictions are in place to:
- Ensure safe and appropriate use of the equipment
- Comply with EGYM’s legal and data requirements
- Maintain accurate fitness tracking and personalised programme recommendations
If you have any questions about junior gym access or suitable alternatives for younger members, our team will be happy to help.
Age 21 is the benchmark
The EGYM Fitness Hub uses age 21 as the “peak fitness” baseline. This means:
- If your results match the average 21-year-old, your BioAge will be 21
- This is the lowest (best) score you can achieve
You may reach the ‘cap’ early
If you’re already very fit, your BioAge may quickly drop to 21 and stay there.
This doesn’t mean you’re not improving—it just means you’ve reached the top benchmark.
Progress still continues
Even if your BioAge stays at 21, you can still:
- Increase weights and performance
- Improve technique and consistency
- Track progress through other EGYM data

You can book a Smart Start Session on the Live Active app or online and get a guided introduction from one of our instructors.
For the most accurate results, we recommend staying hydrated and avoiding heavy meals immediately before your session. Try to keep to your normal routine as much as possible, there’s no need to fast or overeat. This will help improve the accuracy of your body analysis and overall results.
Yes. Although you can enter the gym gates using the Live Active card on the Live Active app, the EGYM Fitness Hub requires a physical card or fob to work.
Using the EGYM Fitness Hub
During your instructor-led session, you’ll be guided through a series of assessments:
- Blood Pressure – reading of your blood pressure and resting heart rate
- Body Analysis – quick scan of body composition
- Flexibility Test – short movement assessment (e.g. squat test)
- Strength Input – simple exercises to log your current ability
- Cardio Test – measure your fitness and endurance
You don’t need to complete everything on your first visit – this is about building an accurate starting point over time. All results are automatically stored in the EGYM Fitness App, allowing you to track your progress going forward.
Just your normal gym clothes are fine. During your session you will be asked to remove your shoes and socks.
You can use the Fitness Hub independently by following the step-by-step instructions. You don’t need to complete everything at once; you can build your results over time as you become more familiar with the system.
Once your results have uploaded, you’ll be able to view your BioAge, track your progress, and access workouts that support your goals. And remember – the more information you add over time, the more accurate and useful your results become.

- Open the app
- Tap on the progress tab
- Tap on BioAge
- Tap on strength section

Measuring your VO2 levels can be done on the bike, treadmill or cross trainer.
- Swipe your card or fob in the top right hard corner of your chosen machine (only accessible on the touch screen equipment)

- Complete the test and your results will automatically be logged onto the EGYM app
Got Your Results - What Next?
Depending on your lifestyle and fitness routine, reducing your BioAge may help improve your overall health and wellbeing.
As well as providing your BioAge, the EGYM Fitness Hub will break your data down into different categories. This way, it’s easy to spot the areas where you’re excelling and where you could improve. For example, a 45-year-old may have a BioAge of 50, with strength results equivalent to someone aged 60. In this case, adding strength training to their fitness routine could help improve their strength score. As they progress, their overall BioAge should reduce.
If one or more of your scores is high, don’t worry, simply look at this as an area you can improve.
Our Fitness Team have created a series of workouts within the EGYM app that will help you improve your BioAge score. Workouts include flexibility for all muscle groups and strength workouts for beginners and those more advanced.
Once you’ve chosen a workout, select Start Workout. We’ve provided guidance on sets and reps, but you choose the weight. Pick a weight that allows you to complete all the reps, with the last few feeling challenging. If it feels too easy, increase the weight slightly.
Live Active members have access to Member Only Advice Sessions. These sessions are tailored to you, and our Team will talk you through any areas that you’re unsure of and provide guidance on what to do next. Member Advice Sessions can be booked on the app or online.
Alternatively, if you have a question, just ask. Our team are always on hand to offer support or drop us a message at [email protected].
You can retest as often as you like, however we recommend retesting every 4 weeks.
