Putting People First: Stories from Seriously Social
This week, we’re taking part in Seriously Social, a UK-wide initiative that shines a light on the work charities and social enterprises do in their communities, and we’re sharing a series of short films to show what that looks like here in Perth and Kinross.
As a not-for-profit organisation, everything we do starts with people. Every penny we make goes straight back into our venues, our programmes and the opportunities we create locally. Being part of Seriously Social is a chance to pause and reflect on what that means day to day, and to share some of the stories behind it.
We know that what we do isn’t just about gyms, pools or sport. It’s about the moments around them – a child building confidence in the water, friendships forming on a walk, someone taking their first steps in their career, or simply having a place to go where you feel welcome.
Through the films we’re sharing, you’ll see some of the themes that sit at the heart of our work. From putting people above profit, to supporting health and wellbeing, creating a sense of community, opening up opportunities to build skills and careers, making activities more inclusive, and taking steps to care for the environment.
More than anything, though, these films are about people. They’re real stories, in people’s own words, showing the difference that having the right support, in the right place, can make.
Watch the videos below to hear those stories for yourself and see what Seriously Social looks like in action.
