Perth Leisure Pool Walkway Update

Perth Leisure Pool, is now approaching 40 years old, and has been central to the community for generations. Over more than a decade, discussions have taken place regarding proposals for a full replacement of the ageing facility, PH20.

During this period, investment in the venue has necessarily focused on essential maintenance to keep the venue operational rather than on large scale refurbishment or renewal. As a result, several features, including the access walkway, have now reached or exceeded their intended lifespan.

Following a recent scheduled structural inspection on the walkway and staircase, areas of concern were noted and therefore further precautionary restrictions have been introduced with immediate effect. This means that:

1. the staircase leading from the car park to the front entrance is closed to the public, alternative and safe access remains available via the adjacent ramp.

2. the lower walkway from Glasgow Road to the front entrance is closed to the public. Regular users will be aware that this access route is prone to flooding and construction of a new access route adjacent to this will commence in the next few weeks. In the meantime, visitors approaching from Glasgow Road should access the venue from the Glover Street entrance.

The safety of our customers and staff is our highest priority. While the findings of the latest structural inspection require us to restrict access via the main staircase, the building remains open and safe to use. We appreciate that moving to a single access point may create some inconvenience, and we are working hard to minimise any disruption to our customers.

We will continue to work closely with engineers and Perth and Kinross Council to determine the next steps and to assess longer term solutions. Customers are advised to follow on site signage and staff guidance when arriving at the venue.
