Between Friday 27th and Sunday 29th June, fourteen fearless Live Active Leisure (LAL) staff members officially conquered the gruelling “Deadly Mile” Challenge, raising over £900 so far in vital funds for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA).
The challenge, which took place at Breadalbane Community Campus, pushed participants to their physical and mental limits with a punishing sequence of:
400m Walking Lunges, 400m Burpee Broad Jumps, 400m Bear Crawl, and a 400m Run.
Despite the name, the “Deadly Mile” was no match for the determination and team spirit of the LAL crew. Cheered on by a crowd of enthusiastic supporters and fuelled by a community bake sale, the team powered through every brutal meter with grit, laughter, and a shared sense of purpose.
“This was one of the toughest physical challenges we’ve ever taken on,” said Katie Boynes, Duty Leisure Manager at Live Active Leisure “But knowing we were doing it for such an important cause kept us going. SCAA provides life-saving emergency care across Scotland, and we’re proud to support their incredible work.”
The event not only showcased the strength and resilience of the LAL team but also highlighted the generosity of the local community.
Donations are still being accepted (as of 30/06/2025), and every contribution helps keep Scotland’s air ambulances flying. To support the team and contribute to SCAA, please visit www.justgiving.com/team/teambccscaa.
