Pupils Shine as “Every Body Can Dance” Programme Concludes
Pupils from Riverside Primary have celebrated the successful completion of an inspiring eight-week “Every Body Can Dance” programme delivered by Live Active Leisure in partnership with The Lighthouse Perth and RG Dance Studios.
The initiative, funded by PKC Community Mental Health, brought together a group of P6/7 girls to explore body positivity, mindfulness and self-confidence through dance and creative activity.
Over the course of the programme, participants took part in a range of movement and wellbeing sessions designed to build confidence and encourage self-expression. Staff and delivery partners noted a clear growth in teamwork, enthusiasm and self-belief as the weeks progressed..
The programme concluded with a celebratory final session, where each participant received a new programme t-shirt and created a personalised treasure chest filled with positive affirmations. The activity encouraged the girls to reflect on their achievements and share supportive messages with one another.
The initiative also marks the early stages of a wider girls’ participation and leadership pathway, which Live Active Leisure is developing for young people from P6 through to S6. The organisation hopes to expand this pathway across Perth and Kinross in the future.
Rachael Bell, Active Schools Coordinator at Live Active Leisure, said the programme had been a joy to deliver.
“It has been fantastic to watch the girls embrace the programme with such positivity and energy. Their confidence has grown week by week, and they have shown real kindness and support for one another. We’re incredibly proud of everything they have achieved.”
Riverside Primary also praised the group for their commitment, highlighting the positivity and encouragement they brought to every session.
