Live Active Leisure’s Active Schools Team, in partnership with Perth Grammar School and Tayside Judo Club, are proud to continue a dynamic initiative designed to support young people at school through the values and discipline of Judo. Backed by a generous £4,800 grant from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) via their East Coast 400kV Community Fund, the 30-week programme will be delivered at Perth Grammar School.
The programme will run during curriculum and lunchtimes, providing consistent and structured opportunities for participation throughout the academic year.
“This project is about more than just sport,” said Bart Bieniek, Active Schools Co-ordinator. “By working closely with Tayside Judo Club, we’re creating a supportive environment where young people can build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging. Judo offers a unique way to enhance wellbeing and help pupils feel more connected to school life.”
Led by fully qualified coaches from Tayside Judo Club, including athletes who compete at national level, the sessions will provide inspiring role models and a clear pathway for continued involvement in the sport beyond school.
Together, Perth Grammar School, Live Active Leisure and Tayside Judo Club are committed to enhancing school provision and fostering long-term engagement in both education and sport, helping young people thrive in all areas of life.
