Live Active Leisure’s Active Schools Team, collaborating with Crieff High School, proudly hosted the 13th Annual Night of Champions, sponsored by Crieff Hydro, earlier this June at Strathearn Community Campus. The event welcomed over 125 guests, including pupils, families, staff, and volunteers, all gathered to celebrate the remarkable sporting achievements of Crieff High School students.
The Night of Champions is more than just an awards evening, it’s a celebration of the teamwork, perseverance, and passion that define Crieff High School’s sporting community. From pupils who’ve shown remarkable progress to those who consistently support their teammates, the event shines a light on the many ways sport enriches school life. It also recognises the invaluable contributions of staff and volunteers who dedicate their time to creating inclusive, inspiring environments for young people to thrive.
The evening featured a range of awards recognising dedication, improvement, and team spirit across the school’s extra-curricular sports clubs. Categories included Most Improved Player/Coaches Player, Players’ Player, and Most Dedicated, with nominations made by both coaches and peers.
The event welcomed guest speaker Abbie Brooks, a Scottish International Badminton player, who herself was introduced to sport, and afforded opportunities to develop both as a player and young leader through the Active Schools extra-curricular and leadership programmes. Abbie shared her inspiring journey from local club beginnings to national and international success, including reaching number 2 in Scotland for women’s singles and winning the U19 Scottish National Championships in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, a feat not achieved in over a decade.
“Events like Night of Champions remind us of the powerful role sport plays in shaping confident, resilient young people,” said Nick Kellier, Active Schools Coordinator at Live Active Leisure. “We are proud of the collaborative work between Crieff High School and the Active Schools team that continues to support and inspire our pupils.”
The evening also acknowledged the tireless efforts of staff and volunteers who make these opportunities possible, reinforcing the community spirit that underpins the success of the programme.
