Frequently asked questions

Q: Are Private Lessons stopping?
A: No, Private Lessons will still be permitted in Live Active Leisure operated pools, however operating procedures are being introduced to manage them effectively.

Q: Why are these changes being introduced?
A: The current situation is such that the high number of private lessons being delivered in our venues is having a detrimental impact on the enjoyment of other pool users.

Q: Why do the Swimming Teachers have to go through a registration process?
A: This allows you as a parent to be safe in the knowledge that any private swimming lesson teacher delivering lessons in a Live Active Leisure venue has undergone a registration process meaning they;
• Are appropriately qualified to deliver lessons
• Have their own public liability insurance
• Are PVG registered through Disclosure Scotland
• Are registered with Scottish Swimming as a Swimming Teacher

Q: Will these changes increase the charge of my private swimming lesson?
A: Ultimately this is the decision of your teacher and we have no control over this.

Q: What can I do if my instructor decides to no longer provide lessons?
A: Live Active Leisure also provide a full programme of Group Lessons and One to One lessons from pre-school age to Level 8 of the Scottish Swimming Learn to Swim programme.

Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact your local pool.
